Munich- Munchen ( 23-24/07/05)

This journey started off on early Saturday at around 215 am. This trip comprised of 3 cars – 12 people.
The journey to munich was around 6 hours and we got lost in munich itself as we had no idea where the city central was located.
After much attempts, we managed to reach our hostel at around 10 am. We headed to wienworld restaurant which served French food for our brunch.

Marienplatz was our first destiny; however, on the way there were lots of cathedrals that were really different from the normal cathedrals that we usually see. Inside the church, the architecture was nave! Really fantastic interior design though the exterior was a put off.

We walked around the famous shopping street where most of us stopped by to shop.There after, we headed to the hof garten, English garten, food market and back to marienplatz to witness the glockenspiel figure movements at around 5 pm. This show was really unique and was the highlight of the day.
After this, we took a break at the food market to taste the different hotdogs in german!
Thereafter, we went to the isatorplatz to look at the wonderful arch built-this place was adjacent to the valentine museum.

We headed to Hofbranhaurs(HB)( spelling might be wrong)- which is the famous beer hall for dinner.
Hmm, inside the beer hall, it was really bubbling with music and ppl merry –making.
We had 2 litres of the original flavor beer, and it was fantastic. Of course, we also had our dinner there, and we tried the famous bayern – pretzel which was too salty.
I had bread dumpling and mushroom soup plus some other unknown ingredients. The bread dumpling was really unique!

After this hearty meal, we went back to our hostel to unpack and rest.

The next day, we had our buffet breakfast at the hostel before heading to Dachau – Nazi concentration camp. This place was around 1 hour from munich central, and since we were so prone of losing our way, we only managed to reached there after around 2hours.
There were 6 different sites for this camp and we only managed to visit the most important site – memorial site camp due to time constraint.
This museum exhibited the kind of life, treatment, medical care, torture and food that were provided to the prisoners. Those prisoners that were not able to work anymore were murdered using the gas chamber after euthanasia method was banned.

We were at the place for around 1 hour before we headed to the Neushwantein castle- built by King Ludwig. This castle was a source of inspiration for the building of the sleeping beauty castle.
After 3 hours- around 3 pm, we reached this castle area which was located at Fussen.
We had our lunch before walking up the slope to the castle – the earliest guide tour which we managed to get was at 525 pm.
Hence, we walked around the souvenir shop. I bought a nutcracker! Okies, the rest of the guys also did so and the Vietnamese group bought beer which I got a taste of it.

The guided tour in the castle was a great discovery of how magnificent the castle was built with minute details taken care of.
Basically, this castle was built on a location such that the view tru the window of the castle was so magnificent!
The castle was not completed as King Ludwig died. However, the part of the castle that was completed clearly showed his wonderful planning of the building of this fantasy castle. The tour lasted for only 30 mins.

It was raining after the tour and all of us had to rush down hills for 40 mins.
Yes, it was raining….we had our dinner at an expensive restaurant (don’t wish to elaborate on it ) before heading home.
We managed to reach home only at around 3 plus am….yes, we were all tired.
Oh ya, me and my friend bought a beer mug for one of our bosses- a big beer mug bearing the HB mark!
